Lushly hedonistic in "Der Rosenkavalier" at Friday's Metropolitan Opera performance, here it showed a neurotic sensitivity that was subtlety itself. So fine is Mahler's aural imagination that much of this huge piece sounds like chamber music. And so it was played on Sunday.”
